Let’s take it back to the 1900’s, when a couple named Julias and Anna Jekker from Switzerland arrived in Idaho. They were the original land owners who bought and then farmed what today is called Dry Creek Ranch, striving to be known as “Idaho’s most fitting planned community.” To honor the history and this couple’s legacy, the community is dedicated to preserving the 1400 acres of land, and maintaining the natural beauty of the wildlife and landscape.
There are 3 main values this community has committed to in its development:
*Conservation of agricultural resources
*Promoting an active lifestyle to its residents
*Adding value to surrounding areas
Most people have heard the term “farm to table” usually when referring to a restaurant, but have you heard the term “farm to neighborhood?” In its commitment to conserving the agricultural resources of the land, Dry Creek Ranch offers a community farm. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the community farm, and have the produce delivered to your door, weekly! A farm owner manages the farm, ensuring that natural approaches are taken when growing and harvesting produce.
Running along Dry Creek Ranch you will find 3.4 miles of greenbelt for multi usage trails with additional interconnected trails, and other trails that connect to surrounding areas. These trails accommodate walkers, runners, joggers, and horses alike! The community also hosts an equestrian facility where riding arenas are available for riding lessons and competitions. If you are looking for more of a scenic ride, look no further than the groomed dirt trails provided within the neighborhood. A park, named after Julias and Anna Jekker is located in the heart of the community. Two community centers, and a small amphitheater are offered to residents where they can opt to workout, swim, play, gather together and celebrate life’s special moments. Now that’s what we call promoting an active lifestyle!
