Gun Ranges: Exercising the 2nd Amendment

Idaho, being the FREEDOM state that it is, proudly promotes and supports all freedoms rightfully granted to the American people by our founding documents. Not excluded from such freedoms is the 2nd amendment which grants all Americans the right to keep and bear arms. Naturally, a paramount element to the preservation of our 2nd amendment rights is the exertion thereof.

Idaho provides an abundance of opportunity and support towards its citizens exercising their gun rights responsibly and safely through outlets such as gun ranges, concealed carry & open carry rights, as well as ownership, possession, and sale rights. An example of Idaho’s low regulation on gun rights is our right for any Idahoan 18 years of age or older to legally possess a handgun and carry it in their vehicle without a permit. Any resident 18 years of age can also purchase and open-carry firearms. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. George Nourse Range, Nampa (Outdoor Range)

“This is a nice FREE range. 9 or 10 wide 50-yard lanes wide enough for 2 groups of shooters in each. I think there are a couple of 100-yard lanes too. It can get windy and dusty so bring sandbags or stakes and a bandana to cover your face if the wind kicks up. I didn’t see an outhouse but most people drop in for 45 min to a couple of hours to sling some lead downrange and then hoof it.” – Chuck S.

“If you want to do outdoor shooting, this is a good place! It’s free, big & wide. We’ve been here twice & I haven’t seen it packed with so many people. I like that it’s more organized for an outdoor shoot, you have your own area & you can personalize it. It’s first come first serve but usually people are done in 3 hours, so there’s like a constant people leaving & coming. It’s just a 45 min drive from Boise though.” – Hyacinth D.

“There’s something special about the sound a 7mm rem mag makes as it echoes off the hills…no membership hoops or fees, just get there early if you want a longer (100yd) range.” – Andy C.
